Lumibird confirmed that its planned investment in Cilas, which will not exceed a 37% stake in the capital, will not have a significant impact. Interest in an alliance between the two parties remains, and has even increased this year. In this regard, Lumibird is determined to reach an agreement with CILAS in which it will make a very positive contribution to the development of an autonomous defense industry.
Lumibird is one of the world's leading laser specialists. With 50 years of experience and mastery of solid-state lasers, laser diodes and fiber laser technology, the group designs, manufactures and sells high-performance lasers for the scientific (laboratories and universities), industrial (manufacturing, defense, LIDAR sensors) and medical (ophthalmology, ultrasound diagnostics) markets.
Lumibird, created in October 2017 by the merger of Keopsys Group and Quantel, has more than 1,050 employees and consolidated revenues of more than €191 million by 2022, with operations in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Founded in 1966, CILAS is a subsidiary of EADS and AREVA, and focuses on the use of lasers in military and nuclear applications. 1968 saw the development of the world's first laser particle sizer. For the next 40 years, the company has been at the forefront of research in the field of laser particle size analysis.
